Crude Oil Refining

Refining of crude oil is a sub-sector of the overall downstream oil and gas production. Refineries convert crude oil into a variety of final products through several different processing units using heat and pressure to separate the products. We are building an efficient 350,000 BPD Cogeneration and Petrochemical Plant in Opuoma, in Imo State, Nigeria.

Our oil refinery system is large with sprawling industrial complexes consisting of extensive piping running throughout, carrying streams of fluids between large chemical processing units, such as distillation columns. We will also process various feedstocks through fractionation agreements with existing petrochemicals entities overseas. Petrochemicals feedstock will be produced directly by cracking crude oil.

At Olympic Refinery, we also plan to export, distribute and market Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), jet A1, Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK) as well as LPG bottles, accessories, and oil cans. With this capability, we will be able to blend custom products to meet our customers' product requirements and expectations.

We conduct the finishing touches of our products during the final treatments. When making gasoline, our refinery technicians and engineers carefully combine a variety of streams from the processing units. Some other special considerations are made, like octane level and vapor pressure ratings to determine the gasoline blend. All of our other final products equally go through this same process to maintain high-quality products in the market. To facilitate a continuous refinery process, we have constructed sizeable temporal storage tanks for storing both incoming crude oil and outgoing final products.

As we expand, Olympic Refinery will invest in the extraction and production of solid minerals. We will major on the most marketable minerals which include talc, iron ore, bitumen, gypsum, lead/zinc, bentonite, coal, gemstones, kaolin, tantalite, and salts. As one of the ways to achieve our long-term objectives which includes expansion, Olympic Refinery has acquired 5 kilometres of land at Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State which is an oil-rich Local Government Area.

As our main goal in contribution to sustainable community development, we will allocate 5 kilometres of the land for a housing estate, school, research university, water treatment plant, churches, playground for different sports, private airstrip, and an industrial park.
